PPTP not working anymore
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
User had had Windows PPTP over LAN connection to the office for over a year. Today when attempting to connect to PPTP the connection is configured for his modem.
Steps I have tried:
Deleted current PPTP connections and re-created them. When recreating a new connection 1) Select "set up a new connection of Network" 2) Select "Connect to a workplace" 3) Select "Use my Internet Connection" 4) Entered IP address and gave it a name. 5) Entered
verified U/P
After set up, attempt to connect, "Connection Failed with error 797. Go to Network Connections and see the new connection is also configured to use the modem.
I have disabled the modem in device manager as it is never used.
I have tried msconfig and tried selective startup
I am at a loss as to why the connections that have been working for years now are attempting to use the modem.
Any help would be appreciated.
