Hi,
What do you mean to create a VPN connection to firewall?
Usually, you can perform the following steps to create a VPN connection directly without configuring firewall.
1.Click Start button --> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Share Center --> Click "Set up a new connection or network" under the "Change your networking settings".
2.Select " Connect to a workplace" and click Next --> Use my internet connection (VPN) --> Type the internet address and destination name in the box --> Check 'Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later' and click Next --> Enter your VPN username and password --> Then click the 'Create' button --> Click the 'Close' button to finish.
Thanks,
Novak

I'm also experiencing problems with Windows 7 and pptp. This was introduced recently. It seems the problems are over when I disable the windows firewall. When the firewall is turned on the connection takes a long time to complete and after a while it times out. Every once in a while it does work with the windows firewall turned on. This is about once every 5 to 10 attempts. Also Windows 7 introduced some annoying dns functionality. I can't access sqlservers in my local network when I'm connected to a VPN and every now and then I can't access network share when I am connected to a vpn. I changed a rasdial parameter for credential usage to resolve this and this does improve the situation a bit.
