PPPOE connection does not save username and password information.
I am using the latest Windows 7 Pre-Release OS and have notced that unlike all other Windows versions I am not able to save my username and password information in the pppoe connection window, even after checking the BOX which states "save username and password"unlike in all other versions of windows where once you create a pppoeconnection it saves your credentials.I am finding this as a defect in the OS which should be fixed as I have to enter my credentials everytime I connect to my ISP.

HI all, thanks for your inputs, however there is no 3rd party pppoe client nor there is any reg setting that I imported, my windows is really a pretty new and clean install. so when you create a new connection The problem remains. If you have windows 7 on your PC try creating a new pppoe connection from the windows and once its done do let me know if you get the same issue once you try to connect.I believe to test this you dont really have to have a internet connection and this cud just be tested by creating one on your system.

Hi, Thank you for your posts. If you use the Windows 7 built-in wizard to setup the PPPOE connection, please remove the connection first and create it again. During the procedures, in the inputting username and password window, you will see the item Remember this password, please just check this item and continue this configuration. Then, please check how it works. If the issue persists, please create another user account which has Administrator privilege and create the connection again. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

Hi Nicholas,Thaks for your time, however all this has already been done and I have tried deleting the connection and creating it again almost "n" number of times now and also clicked the "remember this password" option while creating the new connection. It does not saves the username and password when the next time you try to connect. Also I am the only user on my system and have all the admin privledges. As per your suggestion I did create another user account going by the thought of my profile being corrupted but the same issue persists there as well.I am very much sure this is a bug unresolved yet. Please let me know what are your results when you create the a connection on your system. even if you are not having a internet connection but still you can recreate this issue to verify if our results match.Regards,Saurabh

Hi Saurabh, Thank you for your update. I have tested this on my test machine; this issue doesnt occur. When the connection is created and we establish the connection, the following dialogue box will appear as following: We can just click Connect to continue. Please let me know how it is going over your side. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

I can confirm there is a problem with this in the build 7229 of windows 7. The solution provided by estefand11 works. Also this problem does not occur if you install a earlier build of windows 7 even with all updates.

thanks for confirming this guys, i had a couple of friends who r experincing the same issue on their PC so i did not reinstall my windows. I liked the idea of creating the batch file but I dont mind putting my username n password repeatedly. I hope in some update in future this issuegets resolved.Cheers:-)
