POP UP STATING A .MSI FILE LOCATION IS MISSING. FILE SEEMS TO BE GONE. HOW DO I RESTORE IT?
ABOUT 2 MONTHS BACK I HAD PROBLEMS WITH A HP PRINTER. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPS THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED THROUGH HP. I NOW GET A POP UP STATING SMARTWEBPRINTING INSTALL AND IT ALSO STATES THAT THIS FILE CANNOT BE FOUND: C:\DOCUME~1\David\LOCALS~1\Temp\7zS5F9F\setup\WebPrinting\ AND I HAVE TO CANCEL OUT OF THE POP UP TO OPEN MY INTERNET WINDOW. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE I CAN LOCATE THE SOFTWARE TO RESTORE OR FIX THIS PROBLEM? I HAVE BEEN INTO SYSTEM RESTORE BUT IT ONLY ALLOWS ONE MONTH AND I NEED TO GO BACK TO OCTOBER. ALSO, AFTER THIS ORDEAL, I GET A MSCONFIG POP UP THAT SAYS I AM IN DIAGNOSTICS. I OPEN IT AND IT SHOWS I AM IN NORMAL. HOW DO I CORRECT THIS?

Let's try a clean boot and see if that removes the error. If it does, you should be able to pinpoint which startup entry is causing the error. Have a look at the following KB article concerning clean booting in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 Hope that helps!Cody C Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

Cody,I tried your suggestion, but, it did not solve the problem. Matter of fact, it shut down my firewall and I plaid ____ trying to get it turned back on. I finally went back to msconfig and reset it for "NORMAL" and turned everything back on to get the firewall back on.The smartwebprinting install window still shows and it is every time I try to open my email window, any web site info anything that deals with my screen. I think this problem has a lot to do with the missinf 7z file as listed above.Does a file/download exist that would replace this missing file?are you able to do an easyassist with me?

Tritonzeus, Does the error occur in safe mode? See this article for instructions on how to get into safe mode: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true The clean boot is designed to disable everything from startup, including your firewall. Once you've clean booted, the error should not appear. From there, you should enable a few start up entries at a time until you've pinpointed which startup entry is causing the installer. Of course, since this was all caused after installing an HP printer, it may be a good idea to contact HP.Cody C Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

I have exactly the same problem. Drives me mad. Wireless printer works fine, so no idea what it's on about, but having to cancel window each time is a pain. I wondered if it was because I use Vista. My last HP printer hated that too; which is why I bought a new one! There's no way I'm going to muck about as per the reply you had though. Now I cannot even get onto the HP site for some reason. Just won't go there; as if the cache has gone. However I try, I am told that HP.com does not seem to exist. Random and maddening! If you get a sensible answer, do let me know. Thanks
