First, you need to have installed a program capable of reading PDF documents. The "official" program is Adobe's freeAcrobat Reader , but many here like Foxit Reader , which is smaller, faster, and also free. If you chose Adobe Reader, make sure to UNcheck the option to download/install whatever add-on Adobe is pushing, such as some McAfee "security" application or a Yahoo toolbar. If you had not previously installed a pdf reader, then when you install one of the above, it should automatically set your file associations so that pdf files are opened in the reader application and you should not need to do anything else.If you already have a pdf reader installed, then find a pdf file, right click on it, and select the "Open with >" option. At the bottom of the list that opens, click "Choose program." Find your pdf reader in the list; if it isn't already showing, click the browse button and find it. Once you have the pdf reader program selected, check the box to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and click OK.
