PC wired lose connection after being idle for 2 or 3 minutes
Recently I bought a computer with windows 7. I am connected to a network using an ethernet cable. I login to a unix server using a telnet client and if I leave the connection idle for a few minutes, 2 or 3, the pc loses connection. I have everything related to energy disabled on my network card. This is happening also when I connect to other computers using remote desktop.... The pc loses connection after a few minutes, but the remote desktop connection reestablish the connection again. This was not happening when I was using xp. I tried in other computer at my office using windows 7 and the same is happening.

Hi, To troubleshoot the issue, I suggest you perform the following steps. 1. Temporarily disable firewall or antivirus program on the machine. 2. Disable Saving Power function on the NIC device. a. Click Start, right click Computer and choose Properties. b. Click Device Manager. c. Navigate to NIC card, right click it and choose Properties. d. Choose Power Management tab. e. Please uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. f. Restart the computer and test this issue again. 3. Upgrade the NIC driver to the latest one for a test. Thanks, Novak

I did it In fact, I did it before posting the problem. I made a test. I connected to my unix server using the telnet client, I left the application idle for 1 min, and the connection was lost. This happens if I connect using the remote desktop too. I cant find the solution yet.

Hi, Please also try the following steps for a test. 1. Bypass the router (If there is) and connect to DSL Modem directly, and then be idle for 2 or 3 minute for a test. 2. Restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and check whether the connection will be lost. 3. Assign a static IP address and DNS address on the machine. 4. Temporarily replace another NIC card to check the result. Thanks, Novak
