PC will not boot
My Dell PC which runs on Vista will no longer boot in normal mode.In safe mode the boot works correctly but slowly (with a long wait at the crcdisk.sys prompt) but in normal mode once the main wallpaper or home page with icons appears then the PC blocks with just the circular timer icon running perpetually. I have rebooted many times but the same situation keeps arising. On one occassion i got a message indicating a problem with Security Centre options but I cannot boot and access the Security Centre (and in safe mode it is disabled).I don't know if it is a related issue but my Mcafee virus check (even in safe mode) will no longer allow the correction to work but just perpetually shows the red cross and the message "your PC is no longer protected" - a manual update and analysis (full or quick) do however work in safe mode.Any help / tips / advice would be appreciated - As I have a lot of photos and music saved on this PC I'd prefer to avois having to do a reinstallation of vista if possible

Hi,My suggestion would be to check the Event logs to see what is crashing when you boot up. This will help you narrow down the issue. If you can find a specific service that is causing your problem then you can stop the service in msconfig.Let us know how you get on.Steve
