PC does not connect automatically to wireless router
Recently I purchased a new computer with Windows 7 home premium, and I'm using a wireless connection with a USB adaptor stick stuck into my computer to connect to my router, a belkin54g. Now, every time I start up (or even after a Sleep phase), it does not automatically connect, although the box next to the 'Connect' button is checked (it's in fact always checked). It never connects automatically and I always have to write my network key to get connected. I have removed the connection from the connection list. There are no others networks within reach, so it's the only network available, and still my computer does not automatically connect although the 'automatically connect' possibilities are checked everywhere. Anyone? I have no clue anymore what to do (besides connecting manually every time my computer starts up). I have two other computers in the house, both with Windows XP and both connected to the same belkin54g router. These computers connect automatiaclly without a problem.

Hello Winjngemachtigde, Can you look at the box or manual for the USB wireless adapter and see if it's Windows7 compatible? Are you using Windows or the manufacturer's own wireless utility to connect to the wireless router? Is the wireless adapter set to sleep and/or wake up from comp hybernation in the device manager properties? Can you test this with a foreign wireless network (i.e. a friend's house) see if it behaves the same? Can you test with another brand wireless USB adapter and see if you get the same results? Please upgrade the network adapter driver to ensure that the driver is compatible with Windows 7. I finally found something that worked for me, go in to the properties for your wireless card, under advanced change the wake-up mode. i set mine to all and it seems to have corrected it, not sure what this should be set to, but for now at least its working.
