PC did not start correctly after Windows 8.1 update
When using the refresh PC option in Windows 8.1, it'll give you the option for a repair/reset without losing any installed programs or saved documents. It's a little less harsh than system restore, although Windows should have created a restore point before installing the 8.1 update. If the refresh fails you should be able to restore to that point without losing anything, since you haven't been able to do anything since the update anyway.

We have multiple customers all working with Windows 8.1 machines.

Since last friday we have had 3 different users with the exact same issue.

After Windows update, they are not able to boot into Windows, but get stuck in the repair menu.

One pc had a restore point from before the update, and this restore went well. Windows booted again. In Windows Update settings there is a list with failed updates now.

After I let my computer do the update for windows 8.1, a blue screen with "Automatic Repair" is the main screen that popped up. Clicking "Restart" button returns me to this page. "Advance options" button is available.

"Continue" -exit and continue to 8.1 is available but returns me to the same automatic repair screen.

"Turn off PC" button did not help.

"Trouble shoot" options available to refresh or reset your PC (but I don't want to lose any installed programs), and advance options available too.

"Use a device" button available but I don't know what to do with any of that.

Is there anything I can do that won't lose any of my installed programs?
