PC CLEANER SCAM?
I purchased PC Cleaner for $9.97 and installed it a few weeks ago. My computer was very slow and unstable, programs crashing and freezing all the time. A few days later, I got a call from someone with a thick Hindu accent saying my computer was sending them a lot of error messages. He was a Microsoft Certified Technician and they will take care of the problem. I hung up as it was an obvious scam. I changed HD and within a couple of days the new HD was slowing down and becoming unstable. I tried to download the PC Cleaner program on the new HD. I ran into the Hindu guys again. They said for a one time payment of $100, they would take care of all the problems. After much back and forth, I agreed. They worked on the computer for a couple of hours and did remove the errors listed in the event viewer. The computer was a little faster, but not much. Then they announced that I needed to pay $255 more for continual support. I argued that I had paid $100 on the understanding that it was one time payment to solve all problems. They replied that it was to a one time treatment. There was no mention of this on their SafeCart receipts. I opened PC Cleaner and it listed 2,896 registry problems. They contacted me and asked to take control of my computer to address the problems. After, $100 and several hours on the computer, I still had problems? They never identified themselves other than Microsoft Certified Technicians. I do not know what they have left on my computer. Anyone have similar experiences?

What did you expect? You have been teezing a dragon and wake up it twice. I am pretty sure that there will be no third attempt. 1. Reinstall your computer. Do clean install (vanilla plain windows), install chipset driver and continue with graphics, audio, network etc and of course regular updates for windows , office,....) 2. Do not use suspicious "cheap" programs. They may become very expensive, especially if you do any bank transactions on your computer. 3. Install Microsoft Security Essentials and I recommend you SpyBot installation in spite of its little negative effect on speed of Internet Explorer. 4. Neither Microsoft nor any other worker of solid company call anyone unless you explicitly ask for help (Yes there are exceptions - marketing companies, financial advisors from your bank, and several other benign cases) Regards Milos

Before go ahead I will like to confirm that earlier I was working with a company called tech live connect which offers technical support to the customers of pc cleaner pro. do that is why i know about working of tech live connect and pc cleaner pro And pc cleaner pro is a scam.Whenever you scan your computer with pc cleaner pro it will show you an warning "attention pc cleaner pro has detected 1000 or 2000 or 3000 errors" , when you click on fix all the s/w will ask you to pay. even after paying pc cleaner pro keeps on telling you that your computer have issues, s/w will force you to call their number. When you call on the number the call lands to an third party (instead of pc cleaner pro). That company is third party which offers technical support to computers, and they call them selves "TECH LIVE CONNECT". This technical support company works in afilation with three software companies:- 1)pc cleaner pro 2)systweak 3) superior tech help (sth) safecart is a payment gateway through which this technical support company(tech live connect ) get payment. So whenever you call either of the s/w company the call lands to tech live connect. The tech guy over they will claim himself as microsoft certified technician, he will take a remote connection of your computer and diagnose your computer. he will do his best to prove that your computer is infected and these infections need to fixed and then he will tell you about his plans ($100 to $900). but the fact is that the guy who is selling you the technical support plan is not skilled enough, he don't know anything about computers. The only thing he knows that he have to sell technical support subscription. In many cases i have seen them trying to sell subscription to people who have purchased a new laptop, and many times they were successful in doing that. After selling you the subscription he will tell you that he transferring your call to his senior technician/ microsoft certified technician.and then a technician will work on your computer so this is how they work, this is just an overview of their working lot of facts are still untold because it won't be possible for me to type everything about there working. So after working with them i have realized that there are lot of people who don't know much about computers and they want there computer to be safe, so that is why I am in the process of launching a services which will help all those people who don't know much about computers, to kepp them away from scam companies like pc cleaner pro. And if you haven't got your money back then please let me know I will help you in getting your money back.

Hi Mark, I just got scammed by these people today. The response was almost verbatim what I have read here. As I am fairly computer illiterate, they used various scare tactics on me. When I expressed my concern over giving them my credit card number, they kept reassuring me that they were certified microsoft technicians affiliated closely with Microsoft. I was told that if I did not get immediate attention, my computer was at risk of crashing. As well, they told me that my IP address was at risk and that they could fix this? I was scared into purchasing this and now feel extremely foolish. I am going to contact SafeCart tomorrow and see if there is any chance of a refund based on my findings on this software company (PC Cleaner Pro 2012).

ok first thing, If you have paid from your credit card, then simply call your bank and tell them to charge back pc cleaner pro, you will get your refund, and if you have paid via paypal then ypu have to contact paypal. do not contact pc cleaner pro for refund because of two things:- 1) they don't have the data for the people who purchased pc cleaner pro, they only have the data of the people who purchased pc cleaner pro and their tech support. 2)they don't have any billing deptt., so if you call them for refund no body will be there to help you. and if you have purchased their technical support plan starting from $100, then don't ever think about calling them because they will not refund you the whole amount in this case simply call your bank and request for charge bank. few facts about pc cleaner pro:- 1) its a dumb software which doesn't clean your computer, each time it will show you errors on your computer, 2)if you run pc cleaner on a brand new laptop/computer still it will show errors because the fact is this software never scan your computer, 3)another fact is that i have seen browser hijacking, windows services corruption and registrty malfunction issues on the computer who were running pc cleaner now these crook people have started a new software LAVASOFT, so please beware of that software and sir if you have any issues with your computer then you cn ask me i will defiantly try my best to fix it
