PBR 2 done
I run Windows XP on my Dell Inspiron 1505 laptop, and recently on start up I get a message "PBR 2 done", and then nothing but a blank screen. A control+alt+delete will restart it, but with the same outcome. Any ideas for a solution will be appreciated.1 person needs an answerI do too

Any ideas for a solution will be appreciated. There are many posts all over the Internet discussing this issue, but there does not seem to be a definitive solution. Some people seem to have had success by cloning the drive to an external hard drive using Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image and then cloning back again ... but I've also seen posts by people who tried that and ended up with everything gone. Some advise repairing the Master Boot Record, but almost as many say that doing so made their drive unusable. Here is Dell's response: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=FA000ACDE3324D22E030030ABD622013&c=us&l=en&s=genAlso, read the following thread: http://www.cyberspacesupport.com/question.php?question_id=2401If all else fails and you want to try to restore your system to its Fresh-From-Dell state, first take the drive out of the laptop, put it in an external enclosure, and copy all of your important data files. You'll need install media to re-install any applications that were not originally bundled with your computer.
