PARTITION CONFUSION
When i installed Win 7, i created 3 partitions. C: operating sys D:Movies etc Z:installers, game files etc. C:97gb D:458gb Z:375gb...I now need to extend the primary part (C:) because i'm running out of space. But i am not sure which of the other 2 partitions to extend in to. In my "comp management" it states (C:Boot,Primary Part) (D:Primary Part) (Z:Logical Drive) I am confused as to what these terminologies meen . Is there a way to find out the start of each partition (sector number on the disk, etc) ? Please help

extend into the Z: Drive would be the best. The C: boot, primary Part means this is where windows goes (looks) to boot into the OS. http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-xp-tips/difference-between-primary-and-logical-partition/ a link for some light reading

Hi, Based on my research, please refer to the blog to extend volume for your Windows partition. Extend system partition and Disk Cleanup in Windows 2000/2003/XP/2008/2008 R2 /7: However, please note Make sure that unallocated space or free space is available on the hard disk next to the hard disk partition that is being extended. You can use the software utility that is provided by the hardware vendor to physically create unallocated space on the hard disk. in the blog. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support
