Overwritten file on a network share is not visible until you refresh 5+ times or reboot
We have a program which hold the data on a network shared drive which we are mapped to. If you overwrite a file, most times you will not be able to go to windows explorer and see the new overwritten file. You have to refresh windows explorer multiple times
and often the user will reboot and then see the file.
The client machine is Windows 7 64bit connected via 100MB LAN to Windows Server 2008R2 64bit. The connection to the server is through a switch that connects it to the switch that has the Windows Server 2008R2 64bit connected to it.
Could the multiple hops be the problem with the overwritten file showing up on the desktop's network share?
Thanks,
Alex

Technobabble, I am having the same issue with Win 7 64 bit and 2008 32 bit server. New file put in folder and win 7 cannot see it there through many refreshes. I have to reboot to see it. Terrible!Jim

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters
Create the following DWORD
FileInfoCacheLifetime = 0
FileNotFoundCacheLifetime = 0
DirectoryCacheLifetime = 0
The value for each key are all REG_DWORD
Reboot the machine and see if that helps
