Overlap of Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender
I recently installed Microsoft Security Essentials.I already had Windows Defender installed.Windows Defender looks for spyware and bad stuffMicrosoft Security Essentials also looks for spyware and bad stuff.I don't think I need Windows Defender anymore, since I have installed MS Security Essentials???1 person needs an answerI do too

Installing Microsoft Security Essentials should automatically disable Windows Defender. To verify, check the status of "Windows Defender" service via Services MMC (Services.msc)Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Desktop Experience]
