Over inspired by a Security Article. Removed myself from Administrators Group!
*embarrased* I removed myself from the Administrators group and did not realize that the Administrator account in Windows 7 was disabled till it was too late ( I had already logged out and was back in again.. only to realize that power had slipped through my fingers.. lol ). Situation Now: My account is a member of the following groups: Users, HomeUsers, Telnet Users, Remote Desktop Users. My account is no longer a member of the Administrators group. The only other account on my Windows 7 notebook is the (Disabled) Administrator account. Attempts (in-vain) Computer Management -> Users and Groups -> MyAccount -> Add membership to Administrators group. (Access Denied) Open cmd.exe as Administrator and issue net user Administrator /active:yes (Access Denied) Start up Windows 7 in Safe Mode (which shows the Administrator account) and try to log on. (System reboots! - *weird!*) Item 3 of list (Attempts) is what set me off on to my current quest! It should have worked! Evidently.. it did for others.. as I just found out! So any ideas... why my system just keeps restarting when I try to log on to Administrator account via safe mode screen? When I can log in normally via my usual account. Also is there another way to get the power of the Administrator back into my clutches :) Eagerly awaiting response (and power! lol) Thanks.Devgan, Raman. TechXcell, Inc. Hi TechXcell, Try booting from the installation dvd and select repair and attempt to restore to a point in time prior to deleting the Admin account. Next time, create a standard user account for yourself for daily use to address your security concerns about using the Admin account daily.
