Outlook error when Lync is sign in automatically

Hello,

I'm currently facing issue with auto sign in to Lync. The error message is stated below.

"The file C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\username@website.com.sg.ost is in use and cannot be accessed. Close any application that is using this file, and then try again. You might need to restart your computer."

Hence, a temp solution is to uncheck "auto sign in" and manually sign in to Lync.

However, is there a long term solution that I can adopt to ensure users are able to log in automatically once windows start. May I know if there is any way to prevent users from logging out too?

Thank you for your kind assistance.

This is not a normal behavior in Lync. have you tried to delete the complete path and try to auto sign in or have you disable the antivirus for testing?

Hi,

Please delete Lync user profile and information in registry with the following path (Lync 2010):

<user profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Communicator\oldsip@domain.com

Then repair Lync and Outlook client to have a try.

If the issue persists, you can also test the issue in Clean Boot Mode to avoid third party programs affect.
