Outlook Express working to receive large email file for 3 days
Someone sent me an email with a very large file (approx 20 MB) and OE has been trying to receive this message for 3 days with no progress made. I can't send or receive any other emails until this one has been received, or better yet, deleted. Help!

Two things to check. The first is to make sure your antivirus program isn't interfering. With OE closed, uninstall the AV and reinstall it without the mail scanning feature. Then try again. If that doesn't help, use a web browser to log into your mailbox on the mail server and delete the message from the mailbox. If it's not there, OE won't try to download it.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]------------------------------If a reply helps, please vote it as helpful. Just to add to Brian's good advice, there is one other thing you can do.Create a Message Rule:Where the message size is more than sizeDelete it from ServerClick on Size and set it for about 10MB and click: Apply Now.Go back to the Inbox and click Send/Receive. This should get rid of the message.Remember to go back into Message Rules and either delete the rule, or uncheck it so you can use it in the future.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]

Bruce, thank you so much, the message rule worked, I had to restart my computer and OE for the rest of my messages to come through, but everything seems to be running smoothly.Brian, I had first contacted my ISP to try and get the message deleted from the server, but because I could access it and my other messages through web mail, they said it was a microsoft issue and not a Cox issue.thank you both for responding, I was getting desperate!

You're welcome. Cox won't delete the message, but you can. If you ever want to check your Webmail, just go to this page.Cox WebMail Loginhttps://idm.west.cox.net/coxlogin/ui/webmail?TARGET=-SM-https%3A%2F%2Fwebmail.west.cox.netIt is the same user name and password as your account in OE. Try it just so you know.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]
