Outlook Express spell check non-functional
In my Outlook Express I am unable to use the spell check feature. When I try to reply or create a new message the spell check is grayed out & does not do any spell checking.

You asked about Outlook Express in a Vista forum, so please clarify. Are you running Vista with Windows Mail, or XP with Outlook Express?Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]

If you are, it'snot possible that you are using Outlook Express. Please clarify what your situation is. Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

Setting aside the impossibility of using Outlook Express on Windows Vista (I presume you inadvertently posted to the wrong forum): Outlook Express has never had spell-checking capabilities of itsown. Instead, it relies upon the presence of other Microsoftapplications, such as the Office Suite, Word, or the Works Suite(which includes Word, not the regular Works). There are also some3rd-party shareware/freeware solutions available at any of the manyshareware sites on the Internet that may work.Bruce ChambersHelp us help you:http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.htmlhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin FranklinMany people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand RussellThe philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers.~ Denis Diderot
