Outlook Express not working
My email is no longer going to Outlook Express. When I open up the Outlook Express program no new mail appears. However mail I received and deleted months ago are being added to the inbox. My ISP says the program is corrupt. I can not delete and reinstall the program since I have used up my alloted 3 downloads. I also do not want to lose any of my contact and address info. I would like to go back to using Outlook Express. Any suggestions?

I can not delete and reinstall the program since I have used up my alloted 3 downloads. Please explain that. You have file corruption due to overloading the folders. Start with this.Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck: Leave a copy of messages on the server. In OE, delete any messages from the Inbox you do not want and move what you do want to another folder.Close OE and delete the Pop3uidl.dbx file. You will get the messages one more time, but that should be it.Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run.In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Pop3uidl.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE.Now, delete or move all messages out of the Inbox again and do a manual Send & Receive.Post back after you have done that and let me know where you stand with any missing mail. You are not done, but do this for starters.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]

You can also try setting up a new Identity (File | Identities) and add your account there and see if it works okay. steve "john rachek" wrote in message news:fd695914-4be0-4c66-ba58-4e376c74786f...My email is no longer going to Outlook Express.
