You should have kept going in your first thread.Try in a new identity. You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old identity and delete it.Note: Do not use the word Main in the name of the new identity. How to Create and Use Identities in Outlook Expresshttp://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=209169If still no joy, see this:How to Reset the IP Stack for Outlook Expresshttp://www.ehow.com/how_7223983_reset-ip-stack-outlook-express.htmlBruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA

Thanks, I looked over the procedures for changing identities. Never looked at this before. If I create a new identity, how do I test it? I have several imp. things in my email files and don't want to lose them. I think I'm through today - spent too much time on this. Will start over tomorrow. I appreciate your help.

You set up a new identity the same as you set up OE originally. I gave you the instructions. You test ti by sending a message to yourself. You do not lose anything in the old identity. If the new one works, you import your messages from the old identity to the new one. If the new one works, I will guide you through that process.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA
