Outlook Express Hangs When Try to Insert a Picture
I have always used the "Insert Picture" function to insert jpeg pictures to my emails, either via the small icon on the menu bar just above the body area when composing an email, or via the main menu accross the top of the email being composed. But now when I try to insert a picture in this way the usual first pop up box asking for the "Picture Source" appears as expected, BUT when I click on "Browse ..." as usual it opens a window with the previous folder that I had browsed on the last occasion that I inserted a picture but none of the icons, incl cancel or the top right orange cross, will respond. It just seems to hang. I can see the thumnails of the pics in the folder but cannot scroll through them nor select one. I cannot even click outside of that window to get back to my email and waiting ages does not help either. The only way I can get out is to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del where the Task Manager reports it as "Not Responding". Shutting down and restarting the computer doesn't help. I can still use the ATTACH function to attach pictures to emails ok, including browsing the exact same folder. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition fully updated, and Outlook Express version 6.00.2900.5512 - also fully updated. Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks,Kevin1 person needs an answerI do too

I can only think of two things to try at the moment. Download and run this tool.Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.40http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html Then, try a new identity. You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old identity and delete it. Note: Do not use the word Main in the name of the new identity. Try installing Windows Live Mail, It is almost exactly the same program though with an improved interface. Outlook Express is getting rather old.
