Outlook Express 6 downloads same email message repeatedly and freezes
Each time I open Outlook Express 6 a single email (always the same) is downloaded. Then, when I click on send/receive mail, I get messages reading "Checking for new messages on pop-server. satx.rr.com" and "Receiving message 2 of 44" It then freezes and no mail is received. I tried deleting file Pop 3uidl.dbx, but that does nothing.Any ideas?

Does your ISP also provide web mail? If so, log onto your account and delete the offending message from there.

Along with the advice from No Mo, you need to turn off e-mil scanning.Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for loss of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your emailhttp://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htmNote that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in Custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the option arises. Also, another approach to get the mail downloading is removing the message with a message rule. It is most likely a message of some size and that is causing it to stick.Create a Message Rule:Where the message size is more than sizeDelete it from ServerClick on Size and set it for about 4MBClick: Apply Now.Go back to the Inbox and click Send/Receive. This should get rid of the message.Remember to go back into Message Rules and either delete the rule, or uncheck it so you can use it in the future.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]
