Outlook Express 6.0 cannot retrieve POP3 mail but work fine with IMAP
I need to work overseas so I copied all my email folders from my Desktop PC to my notebook. I have 3 email accounts, 2 of them are POP3 and 1 IMAP. When I connected my PC from my overseas office, I found that those 2 POP3 account cannot retrieve email. The IMAP account works properly. I tried to re-create the account setting and even create an account from webmail and use POP3 to retrieve it, none of them works. The error message is:The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'xxx', Server: 'pop.xxx.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0EMy notebook running WinXP SP3 and Office 2003.Thank you so much! 1 person needs an answerI do too

Could be a limitation of the email service provider and/or anything on the network path between you and your servers. Check with the email service providers in question *first*.-- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP --How To Ask Questions The Smart Wayhttp://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

It's not typical for port 110 to utilize SSL. Turn that off and try again.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]------------------------------If a reply helps, please vote it as helpful. If a reply solves the issue, please mark it as an answer.
