Outlook Express: Attached file changes are saved but no saved changes are sent through
We are currently using Outlook Express. We regularly use a particular form which some of the IT-challenged staff wanted to make easier to access and use. So I set up a basic email with the form attached. I placed several copies of this email into a special sub-directory. The problem is, that the updated information in the attached form are saved, but the recipient receives only a copy of the original file and not the changes. Why won't the changes save? We open up the email with the attachment in it. Then open up the attachment, make the changes and save the changes. When we open up the document, the changes are still there. But the recipient does not receive the updated document after we email it to them. It seems crazy that it is not saving - makes no sense to me at all. OR is there an alternative to what I have done? I can't seem to find an easier way to set up the email with the attached file already in it. The staff want to go to just one place, open up the email and make the changes in the attachment.

Saving changes made to an attachment without first saving the attachment to disk is fraught with problems, particularly the one you see, Best practice is to save attachments to disk, make the changes, then reattach the changed file. Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
