Outlook Express
Good Morning To You, When in Outlook Express I click a link to open it, nothing happens. It use to work and I'm assuming that it's something to do with a Security Update. I use to be able to click on the link in the email I opened and it would take me to the site. Can you help me put Outlook Express back to the way it was before this happened? Sincerely, Really_Rotten1 person got this answerI do too

This sometimes cures the problem: Close all open windows and in a Run window (Windows key+R), type regsvr32 /u urlmon.dll (note the two spaces) and press Enter. Again, in the Run window type regsvr32 urlmon.dll (note the space) and press Enter. Also, in Internet Explorer click on Tools > Internet Options > Programs Tab and make sure there is a check next to the option which says that Internet Explorer should check to make sure it is the default web browser.

If you go into Internet Explorer, click Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and click the Reset button does that fix it? -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express or in Word (Revised 29 Apr-09) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823301 Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express after you upgrade to IE7 [and/or IE8] (Revised 29 Apr-09) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929867 If still no joy: Courtesy of MVP Frank Saunders. [RIP] If nothing happens when you click a link: Open Windows Explorer, or the Control Panel. Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types. Scroll down to [NONE] URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet Shortcut) and select it. Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version. Select 'open'. Click Edit. "Application used to perform this action" should read: "C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.) DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have: #1: "%1",,-1,0,,,, #2 IExplore #3 (blank) #4 WWW_OpenURL URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same. If all the above is correct, uncheck: Use DDE. Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Thanks Bruce, this fixed my Outlook Express link woes. I can again click a link in my email and have it open. Hello Kurly2970, The fix that worked for me, Bruce Hagen supplied. I have copied it and will paste it below. Being a retired Over The Road Trucker, "Owner Operator" with a 12th grade education it was a bit confusing but, I stayed after it and got it fixed just as Bruce Hagen said below. Now I will fore warn you, if this fixes your Outlook Express problem like it did for me, your system may tell you that Internet Explorer is no longer you default web browser, would you like to make it the default browser? Tell it "NO" I didn't, told it yes and found myself back in the Folder Option in Control Panel fixing the thing all over again. Hope it works for you Sir. Good Luck to you Sir, Really_Rotten ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ QUOTE: Bruce Hagen Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express or in Word (Revised 29 Apr-09) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823301 Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express after you upgrade to IE7 [and/or IE8] (Revised 29 Apr-09) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929867 If still no joy: Courtesy of MVP Frank Saunders.
