Other Printers Not Showing Up in Print (Notepad) if Microsoft XPS Printer is the Default Printer
Windows 7 Ultimate RTMThis is a new build. It does not have a physical printer. The only printers are: Fax FaxTalk (Third party Fax/Voice Mail package) Microsoft XPSWhen printing from Notepad, if the Microsoft XPS printer is setup as the default printer the other two do not show up in the File\Print dialog box. If the FaxTalk printer is set as the default then all three printers show up in the File\Print dialog. Why does setting the Microsoft XPS printer as the default print make it the only choice available when printing from Notepad?

Hi,Doesthe same behavior occur with other applications such as Word? To troubleshoot this kind of issue, I would like to propose the following suggestions:1. Set Fax as the default printer and see how it works.2.Right clickMicrosoftXPS printer to select Remove device from Devices and Printers, open a notepad to see how printers appear, then re-add Microsoft XPS printer to see again.Add MicrosfotXPS printer=================1) Click "Add a printer" in "Devices and Printers".2) Click "Add a local printer" and click Next.3) Check Use an existing port and select "XPSPort: (Local Port)" in the drop down list, then click Next.4) Click Microsoft in the Manufacturer box and click "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" in the Printers box, then click Next.5) Click "Replace the currently used driver" and click Next.6) Check "Do not share this printer" and click Next.7) Make sure check Set as the default printer and click Finish. Now open a notepad to launch File\Print dialog box and see how it appears.Best Regards.Dale Qiao
