Optiplex 960 missing drivers
After installing Win7 RC on Dell Optiplex 960, there are 2 unidentified devices listed in device manager. PCI Serial Port and PCI Simple Communications Controller. Does anyone know which pieces of hardware those actually are?

Max, Assuming you're running Windows 7 x86 (32-bit), I'd recommend installing all of the drivers listed under "Chipset" and the last driver listed under "Applications" from the Dell website .-Alex

We are experiencing a similar problem with some of our Optiplex 960's. We ordered 100 of these models all exactly the same and deployed the same Windows 7 image to all of them. After the deployment was over, 25% of them showed two conflicts in the Device Manager: #1 was with the PCI Simple Communications Controller with a Hardwareid/Deviceid = PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E15... and doesn't have a driver associated with it. (I have thrown everything driver in the book at it) #2 was with the Intel(R) Active Management Technology – SOL (COM4) which has the right driver installed but it appears to be interfering with the PCI Simple Communications Controller which like I said earlier, doesn’t have a driver installed for it. I’m pretty confident if we solve the PCI Simple Communications Controller problem (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E15…), the Intel(R) Active Management Technology – SOL (COM4) problem will go away. I have tried to manually install every possible chipset driver from both Dell and Intel for this model and nothing seems to resolve the conflict. On the 960 models that don't show any conflicts, I can't find any device listed in the Device Manager that shows a Hardwareid of PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E15. PCIDatebase.com shows 0x2E15 as an "Intel AMT LMS_SOL for AMT 5.xx" but if you download the driver and review the INF files, none of them list PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E15 as a possible device. Any ideas out there?

You might try uninstalling all of your current drivers from the 960 and install the "system software" (Found towards the bottom of their driver list) from Dell, first, followed by the chipsets and so forth. While I was at Dell that install order seemed to resolve some of those odd issues with chipset conflicts.
