Options for voicemail system for Lync other than Exchange UM
Has anyone any information or knowledge about deploying Lync with a voicemail system other than Exchange UM? In particular, we have an Avaya/Nortel Callpilot voicemail system and I was wondering how we could use this as a voicemail system for Lync. Would a simple 'call forward no answer' to the pilot number of the voicemail system work? I can see that we won't get message waiting, but this may not be an issue.

At the moment only Exchange is supported as Voicemail system. If you will use another voicemail system you have to convert the phonenumbers for this voicemail and MWI is not possible.

There is a way to do this with CallPilot.

You need to create a new ACD DN in the PBX.

For example if your mailbox number in CallPilot is 1027 you would create a NEW ACDDN in LD 23.

1. LD 23 NEW ACD (dummy 5027) MAXP 1 NCFW (CallPilot Pilot 1050)

2. Confiugre Lync to send unanswered calls to 5027

3. In CallPilot Manager configure the SDN table to include 5027 then save.

When you place a call to Lync the calls will now forward to CallPilot with MWI on your Nortel/Avaya phone.  MWI will not work for Lync.

Please mark as answer if this was helpful.

What is the CallPilot 1050 number represent?

I tried building this scenario   New ACD (12345) MAXP 1 NCFW  (existing CP VM access #)

Lync fwd unanswered calls to  12345

CP Manager  new SDN  12345  App Name Voice Messaging (this is the same as the regular VM access SDN)

In this setup I get to CP but am prompted for mailbox number and Password. I'm thinking you built so different app for the SDN.
