Optical disc drive drop-down menu lost autoplay when upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1

Hi, and thanks for your help.

My SSD burned out on my computer and I'm having to rebuild everything from scratch. My original discs were for Windows 8. After installing it I added all the programs and drivers for my hardware and found having autorun (autoplay?) on the drop down menu for the optical drive pretty handy. When I upgraded to 8.1 last night I found that that had disappeared. Is there an easy way to add that back? Is there a hard way? Is it impossible? Is there an easy way to do it another way?

I hope this gets added back in Windows 10. It is handier than having to opening and closing the disc drive to restart things.

Thanks for your help.
