Operation could not be completed Error, when joining to Domain
For every Windows 7 PC I have set up, everything goes fine until I join it to the domain. As soon as the computer is added to the domain, upon every reboot or logoff, i get the error "Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000705). Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver. Contact your administrator for help locating and installing a suitable driver." This is before I have even thought about adding printers, and I am confused as to why this is happening and how to stop t, as it is a nuisance. Everything else works fine, I can add printers and print with no problem, but I still get this error on every desktop. Thanks for any help.

Hi, Are you using printers stored in Active Directory? What does the Event Log say? Can you disable any Group Policy (domain) that applies to the specified computer, to test that the problem lies there? T.

Hi, This error message means your printer meeting a driver related issue at that time. I want to know whether there any network printer installed on your computer? Since your network administrator could deploy a network printer via GPO (Or using script), please contact him to ensure this. I have been here for 2 years now, and we do not use AD for pushing out printers, and have never had a printer auto installed on any XP machine. I am not a pro at reading the event logs, but after turning the PC on, there are no errors that I find talking about anything related to a printer. Yes, after taking the PC back off of the domain, the error goes away. If there is somehow a printer trying to be added, I wouldn't even know where to look in AD to turn it off.

There are no printers installed at the time of adding this PC to the domain. I am one of the admins, and neither I nor my boss, has ever setup GPO to add printers or a script. If there is something in AD from before both of us, where would I go or how could I find this out in AD and then disable it?

Is there a printer attached to the server that is marked as shared? Are you running any services that would share this printer?

There is no printer attached to the AD server. There are plenty of shared printers in the domain, but none of them are on the AD server.

Are you running a login script? Can you share some domain config information.. 2003, 2008 SP2...etc.

We have a login script, but it is just for adding a shortcut to the desktop and a network drive, no printers. AD/Exchange server is 2003 SP2
