Opening Mail

Just set up my new laptop.  I have added email account.  But when I open Mail program from tile on start page, it goes to "add account". How do I open email program? I don't want to add any more accounts.

Hi there,

To use the email app, you need to add the email account to the app.  Most likely, the account you have added up to this point is your microsoft account to log into the computer.   While this is an email account, it does not put the settings into the email app to load your email.  

You may need to find out the correct settings for your email account to add it to the email app to work. This could include the pop server address, smtp server address and username and password.  Depending on what type of account you are using,  you may need different information.

The account is a valid Comcast email account.  Now where do I go to view email? The "mail" tile wants me to add another account.

Does it show that you already have your comcast account setup on the mail program?  Or does it look like there are no accounts setup yet?

Click on mail tile and when it opens move your mouse to the right of the screen to bring up options.  Click on accounts and see if it list your comcast account under outlook.

I checked an empty box in my Comcast account settings.  That "woke" something up and it took me to email program.  All looks OK now.
