Back in the olden days, circa Windows 95, each window didn't always open in the full screen size. The system seemed to unilaterally pick and choose when to open a window full and when to open a window in a size somewhat less then full. It would happen often enough throughout the day to be irritating. While the procedure of selecting Minimize and dragging the window margins to the screen edges seemed to work much better at keeping the windows opening full then simply selecting Maximize, the logic behind that procedure seemed a bit confusing. Then, during that era, somewhere I read about a menu selection that made every window open maximized. From the instructions in that article I found the menu and clicked the selection to open each window maximized. From then on, except for those few occasions when the system feared I was forgetting who was really in control, every window opened maximized. This made my production much more efficient – until I converted to Windows 98 and it seemed “Open Maximized” was no longer available. Now I am in XP and again I have found nothing about “Open Maximized.” The way I use my system, a default setting of Open Maximized, not Minimized and the margins dragged to the edges, would make my production much more efficient, but every time I ask someone about this menu selection they looked at me as if I'd lost my mind. Every time my system chooses to open a window in a size less then full, that memory pops back and I take another stroll thru the menus. Any comments anyone would wish to offer on this subject will be greatly appreciated. It would be nice to rediscover that menu and toggle that switch back to “Open Maximized”.
