Only some Network folder image thumbnails are displayed.
Our internal network folders can take up to 10 seconds to generate a thumbnail for each photo in a network folder. Usually, they only display a thumbnail for 5% of photos. The rest display the default placeholder image for jpg photos. Double-clicking to preview the photo will build a thumbnail image for the photo. A thumbs.db file already exists inside this folder, so presumably the (or some) thumbnails have been generated before. Why do they have to be generated again? "Always show icons, never show thumbnails" is unticked. The PC is Win7 64-bit SP1. The server is Windows 2003 Server SP2. How do we make the server or the computer generate a thumbnail cache for all folders before the thumbnails need to be viewed?

Hi, It may be caused by the thumbnail database that have not been updated. Please use Disk clean tool to clear the thumbnail database. Then re-check "Always show icons, never show thumbnails". You may refer to the following link. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/10797-thumbnail-cache-clear-reset.html Additionally, you may access the link below. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/when-i-try-to-delete-a-thumbsdb-file-under-win7-on/655e92c5-9a71-411f-8a47-c5b4c834d652 Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. It turns out all of those images and files were archived by Symantec Enterprise Vault, so Explorer had no ability to read the image and build a thumbnail.
