Only first backup succeed. All the following ones fail. Error 0x81000002F. Please, help.
The first time that I perform a backup in my Windows 7 everythingt is OK, all the files correctly copied and backup succeed.BUT, when I try to backup again some time later, I receive something like this the message (sorry, I translated to English from my Spanish W7): "Backup completed, but some archives were omitted", and then "Windows backup omitted D:/My Documents (and D:\My Music, and everything) because they are located in the damaged unit D:\" and also "Error code 0x81000002F".To be sure about the repetitivity of this failure, I deleted the backup files and I performed a new backup from zero. After very long time (backup is very slooow), this backup is again OK. Disks C: and D: were correctly backuped. BUT, when I tried to backup again (second time) a couple of days later I got the same failure.I performed a CHKDSK, everything was OK, no failures detected, but still the same problem.I installed a completly new D: unit, copied all my files there and repeated backup. Again, first backup OK and the sucessive ones failed due to "damaged unit D:\"The system is: - Pentium dual core- 4 Gb RAM- Windows 7 Professional- C:\ 320 Gb- D:\ 500 Gb- Z:\ 1 Tb, external, for backupsThanks for your help ... and sorry about my very bad English!

Hi gommace,You have mentioned that your first backup is successful and then successive backups fail with error that "Cannot backup certain files as they are located on a damaged drive D:".Please send across your failure logs located at <Systemdrive>\Windows\logs\WindowsBackup\*.etl. Also try restoring your files from your first backup to D: using "Restore my files" option from Backup and Restor control panel. This will help us know that whether backup utility is able to write files to this disk.Send across logs to nehaa_at_microsoft_dot_com.(Please remove underscores and replace words with symbols wherever applicable). Thanks,Neha[MSFT]

According to the error, it's better to run the HDtune to verify if there is bad sector in the hard drive. In addition, it's better to upload the log file (<Systemdrive>\Windows\logs\WindowsBackup\*.etl) to your public folder in your Skydrive for analyzing. Good luck! John
