Only IE 8 fails to sign in - only to Yahoo!
When I try to sign into Yahoo, my ID is usually in place. I enter the password, press the Sign in button, and am returned to the same page. The password error does not show. This happens for every IE user on this system. Signing in from a different system or a different application or to a different site always works. This is a new Windows 7 Pro 32-bit system

Hi,Try to delete the cookies in Internet Options and re-log in to see how it works. Also you can check in Credential Manager to delete the log in information for Yahoo account, then recreate a credentical to log in.Best Regards Dale

The cookies have been deleted a few times, IE has been amputated and reinstalled. No joy.The Credential Manager is a new experience to me. There is nothing in there about Yahoo. I tried adding it, but to no use. The problem is not an incorrect password, it's that the password entry is not recognized. All the credentials are about my Passport/Live Mail.

Other options you may need to try:1. Temporarily disable antivirus, Windows Firewall and any popup toobars. Log in to see if it works, if it is the case, re-enable one by one to isociate which program is the fault. 2. Enable Javascript. 1) Click Internet Options.2) Click Security Tab and highlight Internet Zone. 3) Click Custom Level. 4) Click Reset and click OK twice.3. Index.dat files may be corrupted. Deleting them without a program varies between your version of windows. I would suggest using IE Privacy Keeper. Freeware. http://browsertools.net/IE-Privacy-Keeper/4. Press Win + R to launch a Run box and type: regsvr32 urlmon.dll, then click OK. Repeat, substituting each of these additional DLLs: regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll regsvr32 Msjava.dll regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll regsvr32 Mshtml.dll regsvr32 Browseui.dll Best RegardsDale

Disabling AVG and Windows Firewall did not help. There are no toolbars unless you count the default ones in IE and Windows.Re-enabled javascript. no help.IE-Privacy-Keeper does not list Windows 7. Do you mean the Index.dat files at %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies and %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low? I had deleted those in earlier stages of troubleshooting.regsvr32 urlmon.dll completed, but the others failed with various errors. Might they be for Vista?

I have another reply from Yahoo!. Since this problem happens only with Internet Explorer, it's not their fault. My angle could be since it happens only with Yahoo!, it's not IE's fault. So it isn't Yahoo!'s fault or IE's fault, but it's still my problem :-(
