Onedrive Map Network Drive Error

Hi everyone,

I asked this question in the regular Microsoft Community but was pointed here "...The issue that you are facing is more complex than what is typically answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro audience on TechNet."

I apologise in advance if I am in the wrong area.

I have been a Skydrive/Onedrive user since the beginning and have mapped Skydrive/Onedrive and have been using it this way. However, a few months ago the mapping stopped working, meaning that I could not access the Skydrive/Onedrive account via File Explorer. In the past when this would happen, as it would happen from time to time, I would remove it, go to Credentials, delete the id & login details, and go through the mapping process again. It would map and I would go from there.

However, a few months ago it stopped working again. So I went through my old steps, deleting the mapping, deleting the credentials, and then re-mapping, but I continually receive errors such as:

"The folder that you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another.'

The steps are correct, that I am undertaking, as again, I have been doing this for many years - https://d.docs.live.net/CID, but i continue to get the above error and cannot continue. My Web Client is 'Started', and everything seems to be correct.

Has something changed on OneDrive's end and there is now a new process?

Specs:

Windows 8.1 Pro

Surface Pro Gen 1

I am mapping a second OneDrive account to File Explorer and not my main account. Again, I have always had a second account which I share and have had this one mapped.

Any assistance would be fantastic.

Hi townsbcm,

I tested on my machine and your old process should still works, ensure that all caps (A-F) are replaced with a-f, and ensure that the address ends by a /.

If it still doesnt work, try using \\d.docs.live.net@SSL\DavWWWRoot\CIDBUMBER instead of http address. Same as above, ensure that using a-f and ends by a /.

Thanks D. Wu for all your help and I apologise the delay in getting back to you.

I have been testing and trialling everything possible, and use your above suggestions, which were the initial steps that I had taken, but to no avail still.

I continue to receive the following error:

'The folder that you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another.'

The odd thing is that on another machine, I have been able to set up the connection with no errors, but on this current machine, the one that I am having issues, the problem persists.

Could this be a certificate or credentials issue somehow?

Thanks again for all your help.

Hi

Thanks for your feedback.

I suspect that this issue might occurs because Windows tries to verify both the parent and the parent's subfolders. If the parent folder is not configured for WebDAV, the connection attempt fails.

Try this to work around this issue, Delete your mapping drive profile by using command: net use * /delete /y, then you can map a drive to the WebDAV target path. To prevent use of default credentials while you map the WebDAV path, select the Connect using different credentials check box on the Map Network Drive screen.
