One partition missing after encryption with Bit Locker
I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I had 2 partitions on my hard drive - C drive with the Windows system and a E partition that I had created to load a Contact management program (including SQL server 2008). I encrypted C using Bit Locker - seemed successfully. The key was saved in an external usb drive. After the computed rebooted a couple of times, it showed full encryption. However at that point I could not see the E partition on my computer and could not start the Contact Management Program (Goldmine) - it could not find the path. I uncrypted my C drive - but still could not use GoldMine or see E drive. Went into Disk Management and found that there was Free Space where my E partition had been - seems as if BitLocker deleted all the files there! ...and I have lost the data? Since I have already decrypted the C drive, is there any way to recover my old E partition with the data? I did not have a system restore point for before the encryption so unable to do that. Please help! Also, during the encryption process, I had only encrypted C partition - not my E partition. Since in Disk Management, I am now seeing Free Space of exactly the same size as my old E partition - does that mean: 1) that E partition has been wiped out? or 2) It is encrpted and needs a key or something? I do have the key etc that were created during the encryption saved as a text file on an external media...if that is still useful. Regards M Jain
