On WIndows 7 Execution time for opening Excel add-in depends on the location of the add-in
In an application, I open an Excel add-in. When I timed the statement that opens the add-in, I found that it depends on the location of the add-in (i.e the folder where it is located). When it is located in, say folder 1 I found tat it takes about 0.2 seconds to execute this statement, and when it is located in another folder (folder 2)it takes about 3.0 seconds to execute this statement. I have tried to make the folder settings (security) to be the same for both the folders, but I have not seen any change in the execution times. These folders are created by an installer of a software that I have installed on my machine. Are there folder attributes other than security settings, that I should be investigating ?

Hi, Based on my experience, this is not casued by the security setting or the folder attributes. This is the add-in behavior. Whether the add-in is a 3rd party add-in? If so, I think to contact the publisher for assistance is a better choice. I analyzed bot the cases with PROCMON. What I found was that when the add-in load is slow there are a lot of file operations on a temporary file For example ReadFile C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Temp\~DFAB5287321F97533B.TMP
