Old domain account not working in Windows 7
We just upgraded a user to Windows 7 Professional. When we add his domain account to the machine it simply disappears completely after a reboot. Meaning, his C:\Users\account folder and all it's contents is gone as well as all other configurations. I have tried this 6-7 times with no luck and it is just with his specific account. I've been able to successfully add other domain accounts to the machine. His may be an account created on an old windows 2000 domain but other older accounts from the same time worked. I have not seen anything like this before either searching through these forums or google.

Is the computer joined to the domain? If it is there is no need to add a domain account. You just logon with the domain account. I'm not sure what you are trying to do. Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

Yes, the computer is joined to the domain. I log into the user's domain account and begin setting up their outlook profile, etc. Upon reboot, its as if the user has never been logged in before and windows sets up a whole new profile. If I log in as a local administrator after the reboot, the C:\Users\account folder is GONE for the domain account that had been logged in and set up.

Are there any errors in the event logs of the workstation or domain controller? You'll have to determine what is different about this user. Different groups from the users that worked? Different OU? Different Group policies applied? Roaming profile? Redirected folders? Local Administrator? Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

Turns out there is an error with GPO on the Windows 7 Machine. The user cannot access the SYSVOL folder on the DC to get GPT.ini I'm going to look into it and see why this user is special in that regard.
