Old Offline Folders Still Appear
Hello All, I have been seeing what appears to be quite a few issues with Win 7 and offline folders. I have a Win 7 SP1 Pro machine that I originally synched a mapped drive to a 2003R2 server. The folder never completely synched (maybe 10 of 40 folders synched) and it never continued after that - I have run through all the procedures to clear the CSC database, etc but to no avail. I deleted all the offline files through synch center. When offline files is enabled, and I ran the procedures per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942974, the machine BSOD's. This is using either the fix it for me option or the manual registry change.. I finally disabled Offline files, took ownership of the folders under CSC and deleted the files under namespace and temp. My problem is now that I can't seem to get rid of the cache for the old mapped drive - I deleted the offline files in synch center (saw the free space on the hd return) but when offline, the drive still shows the csc cache and all the folders are grayed out with a gray X. If I go into view the offline files, they appear to be there, but if I select delete offline files, it completes immediately (but the folder remains). Anyone know how I can get rid of these references and ensure that the mapped drive works properly when offline (meaning it just shows offline)? Thanks in advance!!!!

Sorry - I also wanted to add that now, when offline folders are enabled and I select the option for Always make available offline, the setting never sticks... Thanks again.

Hi, Based on your description, I understood that you couldn’t get rid of the offline on your specific map drive. So please try the steps below to delete it: · Copy the script on the desktop of your Windows 7 and rename the file as cscdel.vbs - you can get the script file from the link below: https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=6bfcaa0f340c39a2&resid=6BFCAA0F340C39A2!178 · Then on the Windows 7, open your command prompt as the administrator · In the command line, input the words below: o cscript CscDel.vbs /ItemPath:\\servername\sharefolder Note that: the servername and sharefolder is the path of your map drive If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know. Thanks for your efforts. Best regards, Annie Gu Windows Support Professional

Thank you very much Miya and Annie! I have downloaded the script and will run as instructed above - I wanted to confirm that even though the drive is a mapped drive (H:), in the command, we are specifying the full path instead? ie: cscript CscDel.vbs /ItemPath:\\servername\sharefolder OR cscript CscDel.vbs /ItemPath:H Best Regards, Darrell

Hi Darrell, Thanks for your reply. Accoridng to your response that I think you should fill the specific full path into the command. For example, I have the mapped drive (H:) map to the path \\server1\annie. Then in this command, you can put it as: cscript CscDel.vbs /ItemPath:\\server1\annie. Besides, the script is put into the path C:\Users\administrator as usual. Please move the vbs to this default path to prevent getting the error message. I appreciate your efforts with the issue. Best regards, Annie Gu

Hi Annie, I tried the script logged on as an administrative user. I placed the script in their profile as specified, c:\users\administrative user but when running the command, it stated that the script could not be found. Additionally I tried changing directory to that path, confirmed the file was there, but still the same error. We ended up just disabling offline folders all together as it appears that the issues with it are fairly common in this scenario from what I have found in multiple forums. Thank you for your help in this matter!
