Ok...I goofed (Installed IE9, need to revert back to IE8)
I'm running Win7 Pro x64. I just installed IE9 and found it broke one of my internal programs. Sadly, I'm unable to revert back. I've tried: •system restore (unfortunately, I installed SP1 right after IE9, and Sys Res is not picking up the IE9 install) - no go there •Clicking the check mark out of IE9 in control panel, installed programs - no go there either •tried downloading IE8 - but IE8 downloads are available only for Vista and Server 2008 (x32 or x64). I machine is a legal license •tried installing IE7, but it will not work with Win7 x64 Ok, mea culpa, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks all.

How do I uninstall Internet Explorer 9 Beta (applies to RTM, too)? http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/7250c2d2-20e1-4f0a-8056-4a6abd9a0f9b If you can't see it under Installed Updates, run this command twice from an command prompt (cmd.exe) with adminrights [1]: FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart" this removes the IE9 with the help of the command line. Hmmm....if that uninstalls IE9, will it revert back to IE8 that came with Win7 x64? Thanks, John

Hi I wondered if you could help (if this is the right place to ask) I have problems with Updates for Explorer 8 on my Vista Home Premium machine (the latest cumulative bundle) refusing to work. It says it has updated and needs to restart then when it gets to configuring updates on the reboot it fails and says it is reverting back. The updates say ie. 9 has been istalled but ie 8 is what shows. I have tried the cumulative uopdate for ie 9 but is says that ie 9 is noit present. Consequently I was wondering if your command line tool FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart could be changed to run for i.e. 8 (by substituting an 8 for 9) as I feel if I go back to ie 7 and then re run the updates I might win. (System restore only has the moast recent backup saved and a "claen" boot doesn't work , I have also done the scnadisk & file checking.). Thanks for any help. BrucieS
