Offline previous versions for user home drive
Hi everyone, We are wondering if it is possible to provide 'previous versions' functionality for user home drives when users are off the network and accessing their home drive via offline files. Has anyone had experience with this? In our test configuration the home drive is mapped to a DFS share on the local server. When users are remote from the office they will access their home drive via offline files functionality. The PCs are quite locked down and the C drive is not available for view. Because the home drive is officially a 'network resource' (even if it is running from a cached local copy) Recycle Bin functionality is not available. Our users can access 'Previous versions' when they are connected to the file server (shadow copy is enabled) but it appears they would have no ability to recover any files they deleted while offline. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It's not possibly to use when offline because the previuos version is stored on the server side.

Hi, As Henrik said, the previous version is provided by VSS. System protection cannot provide this on Network Files. Juke Chou TechNet Community Support

Thanks for the information you two. It looks like the current design will not be able to provide offline file restore functionality.
