Offline folders and files not automatically syncing off domain
I've installed the two kbs and that seems to have helped with schedule kicking off across vpn. Regarding your other questions.. There are no network issues. Permissions are as follows: Share Permissions- Domain Users Full Control NTFS- Domain Users - Modify The settings for slow connections is correct. I followed the link and enabled those policies. Also i changed the background sync as follows, sync interval is set to 60, variance left default, max allowed time without a sync is set to 240.. all others are left as default. Thus far it seems to be working! :) You should include those two kbs as a fix in the article.. that would have saved me several hours troubleshooting time. thank you Sabrina!

I have windows 7 clients and windows 2008 R2 file servers. We are using DFS namespace and i created a gpo to redirect and enable offline folders and files for all windows 7 clients. My issue is while on the domain the offline folders will run their autosync on schedule without any problems. (Note windows firewall is not enabled on the domain) BUT when we go off the domain and say either to a public or private network (windows firewall is enabled) and we vpn back into the domain the offline folders will not autosync. Even with a schedule configured to run every 15 minutes. The folders all show online and you can manually sync them. I believe this might be some setting in the firewall but darned if i can find any reference to this. barring that is it possible forefront could block this? If either of those could be the issue where or what policy do i need to check and enable/allow? Microsoft wasn't exactly nice and didn't name a policy offline folders. :) FYI, on the off chance i needed to add in an exception for MOBSYNC.exe i did set an allow policy in the firewall for it across all networks. That didn't help. Thanks in advance.. If you need any other info please let me know.

Hi, Did you install the hotfix KB 977397 and 981872? Also, please check if there is a network issue and if there is restrictive NTFS permissions on the server. Was the settings “How Often to Check for a Slow Connection” configured: 1) Open the Control Panel from the Start menu. 2) Open Sync Center in the Control Panel. 3) Click Manage offline files in the left column of the Sync Center window. 4) Click the Network tab in the Offline Files window. 5) Confirm if the “On slow connections, automatically work offline” box is checked and how frequency you configured the Offline Files to check for a slow network connection. Please check if you are running into the scenarios in the following link: Configuring New Offline Files Features for Windows 7 Computers Step-by-Step Guide Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tnmff@microsoft.com.
