Offline Sync / Folder Redirection - Win 7 Pro and Enterprise with SBS 2008
Here is the story: I have, what appears to be, a common problem. I have a SBS 2008 server with folder redirection GPO. All of my Win7 computers appear to be redirecting properly, but files are not available offline (gray x - Offline Availability: Not Available). If I try to sync manually it claims that the file is in use by another process. However, if I let the system sit long enough, the Win7 computers sync automatically, but if I set to offline the files are still unavailble. Oplocks are enabled on the server, and for good measure I added the EnableOplocks value on the Win7 computers, while OplocksDisabled is set to 0. The event viewer shows the folder redirection took place properly. I have also cleared and reset the CSC cache thinking it was corrupted. I applied rollup 4 to the SBS 2008 server and it has all available updates as far as I can tell. I have full access to the unc path of the redirected folders. I've seen the sync center offline file cach grow in size after the sync. I've increased the offline file and temp folder limits to 74GB; one of my users is using 24GB between My Documents and Desktop. One of the Win7 is OEM while the other is part of our MAPS. SBS 2008 is from our MAPS SBS 2008 - Dell PowerEdge T310 with SATA drives - 8GB RAM - Intel Xeon Quad core Win7 Enterprise - Dell Laitude M6500 with Solid State drive - 8GB RAM - i7 processor Win 7 Pro - Dell Optiplex GX620 with SATA drive - 1GB RAM - Pentium 4 For good measure I enabled SMB2, altough I think it was already enabled on the SBS box anyhow. The share has everyone with Full Control at the share level, and the NTFS ACL has SYSTEM and Administrators With full control to "this folder, files, and subfolders" and Domain Users has Read/Execute permissions to the parent folder on the share. I even tried full control for everyone to no avail. We are not useing the FolderRedirection share. We are using a custom share: \\<server>\home share. The share is set to full cache with optimization not selected. The redirection did take place, as the local files were copied/moved by the redirect policy to the desired share. I have tried everything I could think of, and I searched high and low in forums without a proper answer. Can someone please help? I'm at the end of my rope. Win XP sync seemed more reliable and less hassle, albeit slower. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, As you said, the offline file is in use by another process, have you tried to test this issue in Clean Boot mode? You could also try to disable the Windows Search Service to check the result. Due to this issue occurred on all Windows 7 computers, I suggest you configure the Group Policy of offline files again to test: Configuring New Offline Files Features for Windows 7 Computers Step-by-Step Guide Hope it helps. First, thank you for you suggestions. I'm Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I got busy with many client issues. At any rate, I have tried your suggestions to no avail. The funny thing is that it's happening to two computers and all profiles. I was able to get a file, for a very brief period (a few seconds), to be available offline but the moment I closed it I couldn't open it back up and the "X" showed up again. It appears as though the files are taking room in my hard drive. It is beyond me why I can't access them. If I create a file while offline and sync back in the office, the file transfers to the server, but then it is no longer available offline. Any more suggestions?
