Offline Files not Syncing
We have a network with 900 computers on it and we are having trouble with Offline Files. All 900 machines have it turned on. We are running Windows 7 Enterprise on our computers and Windows 2008r2 for our servers. Our files shares are all DFSR. What is happening is that when users are ONLINE their new and modified files are not saved back to the server. These files are getting stuck in a "Offline (Need to Connect)" state despite the fact that they are connected. This is happening both wirelessly and in a wired state, though it is catasrophicly bad when wireless. We are a school division so teachers and studemts are almost never on the same machine for lengthy periods of time, thus they are loosing their files from class to class. We noticed that if they returned to a the computer they originally started on they would get their file back, but only until they moved again. We have messed around with the Local Group Policy on some test machines in order to find settings to alleviate this problem. After setting the "Configure Background Sync" with the settings below things seemed to be really good but not quite perfect, as they would still occasionally suffer from the same issue. Sync Interval 1 minute Sync Variance 0 minutes Max Allowed Time without a sync: 0 minutes Blockout Start Time: 0 Blockout Duration: 0 Enable Background Sync for share in user selected "Work Offline" Mode. Not Checked We have also tried additional settings to sync at logon, sync at logoff, sync at suspend, disable slow-link mode and disable transparent caching. None have worked. Once a file is in the "Offline (Need to Connect)" it refuses to sync expect with a manual sync through the sync center. Even then the file remains in the "Offline (Need to Connect)" state and further changes need a manual sync again. If anyone can help us with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, According to your description, all pc cannot sync offline files to the Server 2008. This issue can be caused by the offline folder on server, I suggest asking Windows Server forum for further help: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsserver The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.
