Offer Remote Assistance - Windows 7 to Windows XP
Hi, I am trying to connect using advance remote assistance from Windows 7 to XP (basically, everyone apart from me on the domain is XP). It has been setup in Group Policy and I can connect XP to XP, however, when I try to connect from W7 to XP it gives me a error message asking me to check network etc. Has anyone got any ideas? Would love to user easier software, however, our Corp. IT will not allow it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, Thanks for the post! According to your description, you cannot not use the remote desktop connect Windows 7 with Windows XP. Pleas right-click the Computer – Properties, click Remote settings on the left panel. Under the Remote Tab, select “Allow connection from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)”. Now check if it works. The OP wants to connect to XP from Win7. WinXP does not have “Allow connection from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)” option. Connection from winXp to win7 works fine (I did it yesterday - but both machines were not in domain). So it can be a policy issue, or firewall. - pa
