Odd networking problem with Windows 7
The issue I am having is as follows. I have a laptop computer connecting to a switch that is dynamically assigning an IP address. I can access computers and the infiNet located behind the firewall, but cannot access anything outside the switch. My companies tech support tells me it is something on my end. Although I have an ip address they are unable to ping my machine, however, I can ping my machine from another computer on the same switch. I have attempted to release and renew the ip address but that does not help me. Oddly it seems to pull the same ip address every time. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a routing issue or an issue with the switch, What are the results of pathping <host> for a host on the same switch, in the desired network, and the internet for a host like www.google.com? -- Mike Burr

What is the result bypassing the switch and connecting the computer directly to the internet? If the issue does not occur by connecting to the internet directly, we can confirm the issue is related to the switch. You can contact the switch manufacturer directly to consult this issue. Also, could you please let us know the brand and model of the switch you are using?
