Odd IntelliType keyboard problem
I just bought a Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 to replace my much older Wireless Optical Desktop 8000. Both sets suffered from the same problem, so I know it's not the hardware. When I hibernate the computer, I've got roughly a 50% chance that, when the computer comes out of hibernation, the keyboard won't work. The mouse will work fine and the hot keys along the top of the keyboard (IE home, email, My Documents, etc.) will work as well, as will the function keys as long as F-lock is off. However, the regular keys (numbers, letters, etc.) and the function keys with F-lock on won't work. The keyboard will work fine during the BIOS phase of the boot, but once Windows starts, it's hopeless. The only solution is for me to restart the computer completely. I tried removing and reinstalling IntelliType and IntelliPoint but that didn't solve the problem. Does anyone have any idea what else I can look at? This is driving me crazy. My first thought was that it was a USB problem, but since part of the keyboard does work, it may not be. In Device Manager, look under both Keyboard and Mouse sections. Look at the Properties for each device listed there, and under the Power Management tab, uncheck the box next to "Allow the computer to turn off this device . . . " See if that makes any difference. Other than that, sorry, I got nothin'. SC Tom

I had completely forgotten that I created this post and have lived with the problem for a while. Unfortunately, both the keyboard and the mouse have the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option grayed out, so that's not the cause. It's very frustrating, as I end up having to reboot just to get the keyboard back. Occasionally, removing and reinserting the USB receiver works, but I can't find a consistent pattern to that. I also tried restarting the "Human Interface Device Access" service but that didn't work either.Kevin Dean - Dolphin Data Development Ltd.
