OE can't insert pictures any more only attatch
Using Outlook Express. I suddenly can no longer insert pictures into an email only attatch them. I get this message. Error 6 Object doesn't support this property or method. The last time I did insert pictures in OE was with images snipped out with the snipping tool from a PC running Windows 7 and saved as jpegs. Now I'm just trying to insert normal pictures on the same XP machine as I have been able to do so previously. 1 person needs an answerI do too

Try going to File | Identities and setup a new Identity and see if you can insert the pictures there (make surethe message format is HTML as you can't insert an image in a plain text message). Also check for 3rd party program interference: see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 steve <Barbs2> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...Using Outlook Express. I started to create a new user account but half way through I needed info I did not have to hand ie email settings. I closed the wizard without finishing, so I could go back to the main ID to find the account detils. Now I find all my normal emails have gone and OE opens up with the new unfinalsed ID. In User account only the main ID and Guest (off) show but OE only opens with the unfinalised ID.I have found elsewhere the correct email info and entered it into the new ID account settings in the hope everything would revert back or I could delete the new ID but no luck. The normal ID dbx folders all still appear to be in the Store Folder but not accessible from OE.

I don't think I have rebooted since entering the new details would that make a difference?

Did you go to File | Identities and create a new Identity or did you create a new Windows User account? If you did the former, then go to File | Switch Identities and switch to the older Identity. If you did the latter, its not clear to me at all what happened. steve <Barbs2> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...I started to create a new user account but half way through I needed info I did not have to hand ie email settings. File | Switch Identity. Can you switch back to the old identity? Once there, go to Tools | Accounts and get all your information for the new identities settings there.File | Identities | Manage Identities lets you choose the default identity.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA

Thank you Steve and Bruce. I guess I went wrong from the very start when Steve told me to create a new identity I thought that meant new user Account and when I started into that it wanted the email details which I didn't have so that's why I closed down the wizard. and everything went wrong from there. Thanks for all your help.

Well, if you log back onto the old user account you should still have the messages there. steve <Barbs2> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...Thank you Steve and Bruce. The only thing I can guess is that it is the reduced privileges. You might try rebooting with that option disabled and seeing if that has any effect. steve <DaveKimble> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...I have exactly the same problem, that started about a week ago.I have set up an alternative OE6 identity, and it has the same problem. The error dialog appears when hitting the Browse button, and its title bar says "Message from Webpage".Typing in a local or URL path works OK.OE6 > Format > HTML=checkedOE6 > Format > Send Pictures with message=checkedMy WinXP setup is a bit unusual, but it has worked OK for a long time -The My Documents shortcut has been moved to point to D:/My Documentsand OE6 > Tools > Options > Maintenance > Store Folder > D:\My Documents\My EmailsOE6 runs with reduced privileges, launched by MS DropMyRights.exe Any help gratefully accepted.
