OE6 settings for att.net
I have a fairly ancient Compaq computer. A while back I was using comcast for internet service. There was never a problem using aol, yahoo or any other email without doing anything as far as settings. That is until I wanted to use Craigslist. I had to get some shade-tree tech support from a friend of a friend....anyway I had to change some settings in O.E. 6. Voila, it worked.....Now I am using att uverse for an ISP. I got as far as deleting the old comcast info from the "from" field on the OE outgoing mail screen. Now if only i knew what to enter into those fields to make things work.1 person needs an answerI do too

You are paying for AT&T and they don't offer free tech support? Have you visited their Website for the correct settings? Did they mention anything about this being an AT&T/Yahoo mail service? How to configure Outlook Express for AT&T Uversehttp://www.ehow.com/how_6075140_configure-outlook-express-at_amp_t-uverse.htmlIf this is a Yahoo account, you will probably need Yahoo Plus to get it to work in OE.If it's a U.S., or CA, Yahoo account and you're not subscribed to Yahoo Mail Plus, then you can't access the account in Outlook Express.Configuring POP Yahoo! good questions all....wasn't sure who to contact. i want to use aol and yahoo accounts and not at&t usernames if there even is such a thing, and not just at&t d/b/a yahoo....also I'm not the account holder for at&t; that would be my landlord. I'll try the first link you provided and see if that works.

as I suspected, step #2 in the instructions is prompting me for an AT&T email address....any way around this without asking my landlord to get me info?

You cannot use your landlord's email account. You need to set your own up. There are several free web-based accounts you can get, but if you try and get one through an ISP, you have to pay the ISP, so I'd suggest you try a gmail or hotmail or somesuch account. AOL should work, but you have to log on to AOL first. steve <pioneerdad13> wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...good questions all....wasn't sure who to contact. i want to use aol and yahoo accounts and not at&t usernames if there even is such a thing, and not just at&t d/b/a yahoo....also I'm not the account holder for at&t; that would be my landlord. See Steve's reply. I thought you had a legitimate account of your own.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA

If your landlord supplies U-Verse to you, then he'll have a modem already configured with his account information. Your PC should connect to his network via a router (usually a 2Wire device for U-Verse), either wired or wirelessly. If the latter, you'll need to know the WPA or WEP key for that router and your landlord will need to tell you what he chose. Once you're connected to the router, you'll ne able to use Yahoo, Gmail, or any other mail provider you please where you have a mailbox defined.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]--------------------------------https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Brian.TillmanIf a reply helps, please vote it as helpful.
